HAWKEYE INITIATIVE
Examining cancer disorders within the Airborne Early Warning & Control community
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to collect information, communicate findings, and advocate for action that addresses the health issues of vital interest to the Airborne Early Warning & Control community. Specifically, to investigate the cancer diagnoses, deaths, and associated disorders among those that supported the AEW&C missions while deployed or ashore.
Our goal is to ensure the AEW&C mission environment is safe for all current and future personnel while continuing to support the vital strategic importance inherent in the AEW&C mission sets and Hawkeye | Sentry platforms.
We will advocate for our community while ensuring former and current members have access to the information collected, understand health monitoring and health care options, and assist with service connection support for veterans and surviving family members.

Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
OUR OBJECTIVES
Cancer Registry
The Hawkeye Initiative maintains a self-reported registry of AEW&C community cancer cases, deaths, and associated disorders with the aim of supporting any formal study or independent scientific research into the root causes of documented cases. The Hawkeye Initiative’s archive will help inform current and future study designs while, to the extent possible, ensuring third-party medical, academic, and occupational health experts can participate.
Education/Awareness/Monitoring
The Hawkeye Initiative exists to educate and build awareness about health issues impacting our community. We will encourage DoD to examine the facts and data from current and former community members affected by cancer and other illnesses while advocating for monitoring and screening of those currently serving.
Documentation
The Hawkeye Initiative’s archive is intended for the benefit of the AEW&C community. In addition to the registry dashboard, the archive includes other media associated with ongoing aircrew cancer studies and research. We are looking for answers and encourage anyone with information related to toxic or hazardous exposures while serving or supporting the AEW&C community to come forward. Sharing this information saves lives and honors those we have lost.
